Messy play - magic photos

I have been working with Jo from The Curated Parcel for many years now, going way back to when Adalie my eldest daughter was a baby. It was through this work that I developed a love for styling and photographing products in play. Her heirloom-quality toys photographed so beautifully and fuelled my creative passion.

My daughter loves messy play. The more I have photographed these products, the more I love the imagery of the messy, unstructured result when she has finished playing. Watching her play, discover new resources and to hear her talking to herself is pure delight.

I always incorporate pieces from nature not only to elevate the images but to elevate her play. I sprinkle some dirt and often add water and it’s a recipe for fun and photogenic magic.
